Alice Bettenhausen

Alice K. Bettenhausen, age 96, of Peotone, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2016 at Riverside Senior Life Community in Bourbonnais.

She was born on November 15, 1919 in Frankfort, IL, the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Baumgartner) Wischover. Alice married the late Lloyd A. Bettenhausen on October 16, 1940 in Frankfort, IL. He passed away on April 6, 1991. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Peters United Church of Christ in Frankfort, was past president of the church women’s fellowship and treasurer of the church council. She also served as treasurer of KWIL and was a member of the Will County Homemakers Extension. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and was a sports fanatic.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Marla Bettenhausen of Peotone; two grandchildren, Tammy (Phil) Cowger and Tom (Courtney) Bettenhausen both of Peotone; and five great-grandchildren, Dakota and Mykayla Cowger; and Michael, Kiersten, and Brooke Bettenhausen. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Edith Warning.

Visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home in Peotone on Friday, June 10 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 11 at St. Peters United Church of Christ, 12 W. Sauk Trail, Frankfort, IL at 11:00 a.m., Pastor Mark Milligan officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to service. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Frankfort. Memorials to St. Peters United Church of Christ or Hospice of Kankakee Valley would be appreciated.
