In Loving Memory of Brock Allen Harring
Brock Allen Harring, beloved brother, uncle, friend, and dedicated educator, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2023, at his home in Bourbonnais, Illinois, at the age of 75. He was born on November 26, 1947, in Coldwater, Michigan to William and Marjorie (Colvin) Harring.
Brock had a passion for education, earning a Bachelor of Science in Education from Illinois State University in 1969. He embarked on a fulfilling career as an educator at Momence Junior High in Momence, Illinois, where he inspired countless students with his knowledge and kindness.
Throughout his life, Brock was a beacon of generosity and compassion. He had a heart as big as the world he loved to explore. Brock's adventurous spirit led him to travel far and wide, embracing diverse cultures and fostering connections with people from all walks of life. His charitable nature touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on the communities and causes he supported.
Brock was a devoted member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Kankakee, Illinois, where he found solace, community, and a sense of purpose. He valued his faith and the relationships he formed within his church family.
In addition to his professional and spiritual pursuits, Brock cherished his family and friends dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Marjorie Harring, and his lifelong friend and partner, Leon Aylward, Jr. He is survived by his loving sisters, Rebecca (Keith) Walter of Highland, Indiana, and Debra (Jack) Canna of Homer Glen, Illinois. Brock's memory lives on in the hearts of his five nieces and nephews and their families, who will forever treasure the moments shared with their beloved uncle.
A memorial visitation to honor Brock's life will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home in Peotone, Illinois on Thursday, October 26, 2023, from 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. where friends and family will gather to remember and celebrate his extraordinary journey. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m., Father Shane Spellmeyer officiating,
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Kidney Fund or the American Diabetes Association in Brock's name, continuing his legacy of giving and making a difference in the lives of others.
