Bruce Stone

Bruce A. Stone, age 61, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at his home in Frankfort.

He was born on December 15, 1959 in East St. Louis, IL.  Bruce grew up in Peotone and graduated from Peotone High School in 1978.  He married Jane Kratzenberg in 1981 and moved to the family farm and lived there for the rest of his life.  Bruce loved living on the farm where he and Jane raised their sons, Michael and Bradley.  He enjoyed the many years he spent farming with his father-in-law, George.  He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting with his family and friends.  Bruce was a talented singer songwriter who had a passion for music and enjoyed playing his music with and for others.  Bruce loved spending time with his family, especially his precious grandchildren Devon, Haley, and Brooke.  He loved being their “Bampa” most of all.  Bruce was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Stone; his sons, Michael (Amanda) Stone and Bradley Stone; his grandchildren, Devon, Haley, and Brooke Stone; his mother, Laura (Michael) Timmons; his brother, Brian (Susie) Stone; his sister, Kelly (Scott) Novak; his step-mother, Judy Stone; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Delores Kratzenberg; sisters-in-law, Karen Kratzenberg and Marcia (Paul) Dalen; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Stone.

Visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Sunday, June 20 from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, 12 W. Sauk Trail, Frankfort, IL 60423 on Monday, June 21 at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will be at Skyline Memorial Park in Monee.    Due to the global health pandemic (Covid-19) the wearing of a face covering will be required to enter the funeral home and also St. Peter’s United Church of Christ and social distancing must be observed.  Memorials in Bruce’s name may be directed to the choice of the donor.
