Carolyn Rose Osborne

           Carolyn Rose Osborne, age 89, of Manteno, formerly of Peotone, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

          She was born on January 10, 1935, in Harvey, IL, the daughter of James Harold and Frances Martha (Sellin) Oliver.   She married James H. Osborne on January 5, 1952, in Frankfort, IL.  He passed away on December 19, 2010.  Carolyn worked at Peotone Bensenville Home in housekeeping.  She then worked for Hilsenhoff Pharmacy and Doc’s Drugs in Peotone as a clerk.  She also worked as a dispatcher for the Village of Peotone dispatching police and fire calls for Peotone, Beecher, and Monee.  She volunteered at the Will County Fair Association as a judge in the exhibit hall.  Carolyn was “Nan” and “Grandma” to many.

      She is survived by her children; Alan (Lisa) Osborne of Apex, NC, David (Deb) Osborne of Manhattan, Bill (Vickie) Osborne of Peotone, Cindy (George) Cole of Cullman, AL, Timothy (Kristi) Osborne of Richmond, TX, and Gregory Osborne of Wilton Center;  14 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and Matthew, Jason, Amanda, and Jordan Schieman who spent almost all of their lives as part of the family.

      She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Frances Oliver; and her husband, James H. Osborne.  

      A visitation will be held at Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Sunday, June 2, 2024, from 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.   Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m., Pastor Hal Trovillion officiating.  Due to the ongoing road construction, Main Street will be closed to traffic.  The sidewalks in front of the funeral home will be open and access may be made through the front door.  Additional parking will be available in the parking lot of Christ Community Church, 103 W. Corning Ave., Peotone, IL.  Entrance then can be made through the back door of the funeral home.  Private burial will take place at Peotone Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Uplifted Care Hospice, 482 Main St. NW, Bourbonnais, IL, 60914.
