Charles A. Smith, age 77, of Peotone, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2015 at his home.
Visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Sunday, May 3, 2015 from 12:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, May 3 at 3:00 p.m., Dr. Mark Quanstrom officiating. Interment will be at Peotone Cemetery on Monday, May 4 at 10:00 a.m. Memorials to the College Church of the Nazarene would be appreciated.
He was born on January 12, 1938 in Leechburg, PA, the son of the late Ralph and Olive (Rearick) Smith. He was retired working the last 10 years of his career with Alcoa in Morris, IL. He was a US Army Veteran and a member of the Peotone American Legion Post 392. He was an active member of the College Church of the Nazarene in Bourbonnais. He enjoyed gardening and being in the outdoors.
Charles is survived by his wife, Jane (Dreger) Smith of Peotone who he married on September 25, 1965 in Blue Island, IL. He is also survived by three children, Jason (Deborah) Smith of Peoria, AZ, Blake Smith of Bradley, and Myles (Samantha) Smith of Bourbonnais; five grandchildren, Connor, Ian, Jasmine, Emma, and Logan; four brothers, Donald (Ruth) Smith of West Virginia, Robert (Carm) Smith of Pennsylvania, Richard (Judy) Smith of Washington, and Gary Smith of Colorado; and two sisters, Patricia (Wayne) Smith of Pennsylvania and Sandy Mangini of Virginia.
