Daryl R. Richmond, age 79, of Manteno, formerly of Peotone, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Riverside Miller Healthcare in Kankakee.
He was born on November 28, 1944, in Chicago Heights, the son of Robert and Viola (Cording) Richmond. He married Carol LeSage on September 19, 1965, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone. Daryl was a United States Army Vietnam veteran and a member of the Peotone American Legion Post 392. He attended DeVry University and then worked for AT&T for 36 years. He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone where he served as an Elder two times and helped initiate a technology program. In his younger years he was a member of a model train club. Daryl coached his two daughter’s softball teams for many years and was an I.H.S.A. umpire for softball. He was an avid Chicago White Sox and Blackhawks fan.
Daryl is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol Richmond; his two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and David Brzezicki and Joann and Brian Ziegle all of Manteno; his grandchildren, Izak and Teddy Brzezicki, Matt (Kristi) Ziegle and Chris (Laura) Ziegle; his great-grandchildren, Gabe Zeller, Kimber Ziegle, Remi Ziegle, and Hazel Ziegle; two brothers, Donald (the late Carla) Richmond of Bourbonnais and Roger Richmond of Homewood; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Greg Ziegle.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Sunday, January 21, 2024, from 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. with a memorial service being held at 4:00 p.m., Rev. Terry Krouskoupf officiating. Private interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. Memorials may be given to Immanuel United Church of Christ, Peotone.
