Delmer E. Mather, age 86, of Peotone, formerly of Green Garden, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at Manteno Springs Assisted Living Center in Manteno, IL.
He was born on June 11, 1932 in Chicago, the son of the late Edward and Edna (Braasch) Mather. He married Lois M. Bettenhausen on April 14, 1951 at Zion Lutheran Church in Tinley Park, IL. Delmer was a lifelong farmer and also worked as a truck driver. He was a founding member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Frankfort, IL and was a former member of the Will County Auxiliary Police.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lois M. (Bettenhausen) Mather; four children, Linda (the late Cal) Heflin of Peotone, Donna (Kenneth) Schroeder of Manhattan, Lane (Lydia) Mather of Frankfort, and Jay (Vivian) Mather of Manteno; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren;1 great-great-grandchild; and a foster brother, Ricard Pein of Arkansas.
Visitation will be held at Good Lutheran Shepherd Church, 177 Luther Lane, Frankfort, IL 60423 on Monday, May 13 from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Monday, May 13 at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Kevin Hahn officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded following services. Memorials to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
