Dennis Singleman, 70, of Peotone, died Thursday (April 11, 2013) at his residence. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Sunday until the 4 p.m. funeral services at Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home, Peotone. The Rev. John Billow will officiate.

Private burial will be in Peotone Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley or Helping Hands Organization of Peotone.

He was born Feb. 17, 1943, in Kankakee, the son of Frank and Marie (Mitchell) Singleman. He retired from Arbon Steel & Services, of University Park. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone.He is survived by his wife, the former Julie Hopkins, of Peotone, whom he married July 1, 1967, in Somonauk; three sisters, Frances Singleman, of Peotone, Naomi (the late Jack) Wolfe, of New Port Richey, Fla., and Mary (the late Robert) Petersen, of Sioux City, Iowa; sister-in-law, Donna Singleman, of Lisle; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jane and Andy Keisler, of Mineral Point, Wis., and Joan and Barry Jacobson, Jenelle (the late James) Helland and Dan Hopkins, all of Newark; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank (1981), and mother, Marie (2002); father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bert and Bernice Hopkins; infant twin brothers, Ellis and Elwin (1928); brother, Melvin (1957); sister, Lois (1993); and twin brother, Donald (1995).
