Elaine Nadler

Elaine Voigt Nadler, age 93, of Peotone, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 15 at the Riverside Senior Community in Bourbonnais.  She was born March 19, 1929, the daughter of Velna (nee Schlottman) and William Voigt. She spent her youth in Monee, Illinois and met the love of her life, James Nadler, at a dance in Monee.  At the age of 19 they married and relocated to Champaign, Illinois so Jim could attend the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine.  Elaine and Jim ran a student boarding house and Elaine was responsible for procuring and cooking for 30 men, 2 meals per day.  Consequently, all of her fabulous recipes had to be altered over the years to accommodate a smaller family.  They moved back to Peotone so Dr. James could open a veterinary practice.  In those early years Elaine served as secretary, surgical assistant, and all-around helper for Jim to build his practice all while raising 3 children.

Elaine was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone and was involved in Women’s Fellowship.  She was a member of several golf leagues and served as the Superintendent of the Baby Show at the Will County Fair for many years.  Elaine was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who loved to see her family shine in all they did.

Elaine is survived by her son, Dr. Jay Nadler (Dr. Yvonne Nadler; daughter, Dr. Jill Dougherty (Michael Dougherty); grandchildren, Mickey and Katey Dougherty, Jeff and Joseph (Emily Flaherty) Nadler; special great-grand daughter, Eleanor Nadler; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Jim, son Jeffrey; grandson, James Dougherty; and her sisters, Jean Voigt Nieland and Fern Voigt Freitag.

Visitation will be held at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 311 W. Corning Ave, Peotone, IL on Saturday, August 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with funeral services being held at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Terry Krouskoupf and Nancy Wheeler officiating.  Burial will follow at Peotone Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, memorials to Immanuel United Church of Christ in her memory would be appreciated.  Share a memory at www.feddehelfrichcrossfh.com
