Eugenia "Jeannie" Felicia Scheiman

      Eugenia “Jeannie” Felicia Scheiman (nee Tompkins), of Peotone, IL, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, December 2, 2024, at the age of 78.

 She was born on October 23, 1946, in Chicago Heights, the daughter of Hiram and Genevieve (Zentara) Tompkins. Jeannie’s passion was hair, and she was a hairdresser for 40+ years. She owned and operated Just Jeannie’s Hair Salon on Second Street, a hub of Peotone’s social life and activity. Her shop was more than a place for beauty but also a place for people to socialize and take care of one another. In her early years, she loved dancing, bowling, socializing and of course all things beauty. Later it was about shopping, meals out, and time with family and friends. Her greatest pride was her children and grandchildren and her home. She was a devout member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Peotone.

 Jeannie is survived by her three sons, Matthew (Gina Rossi) Scheiman of Sewall’s Point, Florida, Jason (Cyndi Rieder) Scheiman of Manteno, Illinois, and Jordan (Alyssa) Scheiman of Alexandria, Virginia; her daughter, Amanda (Matthew) McCorry of Charlottesville, Virginia; five grandchildren, Genevieve Scheiman, Quaid Scheiman, Emmett McCorry, Palmer McCorry, and August Scheiman; sisters-in-law, Barbara Kass of Beecher, Illinois and Judith Tompkins of Peotone, Illinois; brothers-in-law, James (Joann) Scheiman of Florida and Bruce Scheiman of Monee, Illinois; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. 

 She is preceded in death by her parents; her three sisters, Eileen Cummins, Alberta Overocker and Linnie Harris; her brother, H. Daniel Tompkins; and her niece, Elizabeth Overocker. 

 Visitation will be held at Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home, on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 5-8 p.m., with funeral mass being celebrated on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Father Thomas Milota officiating. The burial will follow at Peotone Cemetery.
