Evelyn M. Crocker, age 98, formerly of Peotone, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Presence Heritage Village in Kankakee.
She was born on March 8, 1917 in Peotone, the daughter of the late Anton and Emma (Younker) Eilers. She married the late Maynard C. Crocker on August 18, 1937 in Peotone. He died on June 6, 2001. Mrs. Crocker was a homemaker and a farmer’s wife who worked on the family farm. She was a lifelong member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone and a long-time member of the Immanuel Women’s Fellowship. She enjoyed needlework, baking and gardening.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley (Paul) Loverin of Grant Park; two granddaughters, Vicki Gawlinski and Karen (Tony) Brunello both of Grant Park; and a great-granddaughter, Zoe Gawlinski.
Visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 7 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home in Peotone on Wednesday, April 8 at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Dwight Gorbold and Nancy Wheeler officiating. Burial will be at Peotone Cemetery. Memorials to the Plassmann Scholarship Fund at Immanuel United Church of Christ would be appreciated.
