Frances Singleman

Frances M. Singleman, age 88, formerly of Peotone, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at the Citadel Care Center in Kankakee.

She was born on January 22, 1931 in Kankakee, the daughter of Frank G. and Marie (Mitchell) Singleman.  She graduated from Manteno High School and attended Elmhurst College.  She worked as a private duty nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee before entering the Army Nurse Corps.  She served in the Army Nurse Corps from 1963 to 1969 attaining the rank of First Lieutenant.  She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone.

Frances was one of nine siblings which included late infant twin brothers, Ellis and Elwin (1928), late twin brothers; Donald (1995) and Dennis (the late Julie),(2013), late brother, Melvin (1957), late sisters, Lois Singleman (1993), Mary Petersen (2018).  She is survived by a sister, Naomi Wolfe, and sister-in-law, Donna Singleman.

Visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Monday, January 6 from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. with funeral service being held at 11:00 a.m., Nancy Wheeler officiating.  Military funeral honors will be conducted at the funeral home at the conclusion of the funeral service.  Private burial will be at Peotone Cemetery.
