George Klimchuk, age 92, of Peotone, formerly of Country Club Hills, passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Riverside Miller Rehabilitation Center in Kankakee.
He was born on August 6, 1928 in Chicago, the son of Joseph and Katharine (Hnatusko) Klimchuk. He married Ramona (Hackett) Klimchuk on November 24, 1956. She passed away on September 12, 2010. George was retired from the Oak Forest Post Office and was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He enjoyed playing Bingo and was an avid reader.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John (Dianne) Klimchuk of Bourbonnais; his daughter, Jennifer Cook of Momence; and his grandchildren, Brent Klimchuk, Sarah Klimchuk, and Shane Cook. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ramona; and a sister, Olga Seidensticker.
Visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Thursday, April 1 from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. with funeral services being held at 12:00 p.m., Pastor Larry Garcia officiating. Due to the global health pandemic (Covid-19) the wearing of a face covering will be required to enter the funeral home and social distancing must be observed. Burial will be at Peotone Cemetery.
