Helen L. Welch, age 80, of Peotone, passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at her home.
She was born on July 17, 1941 in Chicago, the daughter of Rudolph and Helen (Chrome) Bronesky. She married Chuck “Bill” W. Welch on November 21, 1959 in Chicago. Helen was formerly employed at Peotone Animal Hospital and First Midwest Bank in Monee. She was the past leader of the Peotone Pep-Pushers 4-H Club in Peotone, and member of the Peotone Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting and cross-stitching, loved fishing and boating, and also collected snowmen and Minnesota loons. She was an avid NASCAR fan and loved her cats. Her greatest love was her family and she especially enjoyed traveling around following her grandchildren as thy participated in their sporting and dance events.
Helen is survived by her husband of almost 62 years, Chuck “Bill” W. Welch of Peotone; her children, Dale (Tammy) Welch of Crown Point, IN, Todd Welch of Manteno, Keith Welch of Manteno, and Penny VanGilder of Peotone; her grandchildren, Sarah Welch, Amanda (Ryan) Rodriguez, Amy (Austin) Earsley, Megan (Jesse) Meyer, Laura Welch, Becka (Anthony) Diorio, Rachel (Nathan Alksnis) VanGilder, Kyle VanGilder; her great-grandchildren, Leonardo and Charlotte Rodriquez, and Mason Alksnis; and a sister-in-law, Mariellen Bronesky of Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Rudy Bronesky.
Visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Friday, August 6 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with funeral services being held at 7:00 p.m., Rosemarie Mayer officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded following all services. Memorials may be directed to the wishes of the family.
