Jacob A. Younker, age 34, of Manhattan, formerly of Peotone, passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday, June 6, 2020.
He was born on January 10, 1986 in Joliet, IL. He was a 2004 graduate of Lincoln-Way East High School and attended the Peotone Fire Protection District Fire Academy following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Allan Harms and his Uncle Todd Harms. He was also a licensed Emergency Medical Technician. Jacob was very witty and had a great sense of humor. He was an avid Chicago sports and Kobe Bryant fan. He enjoyed movies and television, especially the technical parts of the production. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many, many friends.
Jacob is survived by his mother, Toni (Harms) Younker of Manhattan; his father, Gary (Mary) Younker of Chicago; four sisters, Stacey (Jason) Borrelli of Manhattan, Jaime Wascher of Chicago, Jordan (Mike) Toufar of Manhattan, and Kelly Chiaro of Chicago; his nieces and nephews, Jared Younker, Regan Wascher; Nico , Ryan and Lorenzo Borrelli; Charlie and Mason Toufar; and Mackenna Chiaro; his aunt, Tamy (Ed Eng) Harms and his uncle, Todd (Katie) Harms. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Allan and Donna Harms and his paternal grandparents, Calvin Younker and Mary McGovern.
A public visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 9 from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. The wearing of a face-mask will be required to attend this visitation. Private family graveside services will be held at Peotone Cemetery on Wednesday, June 10, at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Terry Krouskoupf officiating. This service will be live streamed on the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Peotone Fire Department or the Manhattan Fire Department.
