James Robert Balmer Jr., age 46, of Peotone, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 14, 2016.
He was born on December 18, 1969 in Hammond, IN, the son of the late James Robert Sr. and Joyce J. (Montalbano) Balmer. Jim was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. He was a current member of the Peotone Baseball Board and enjoyed coaching softball, baseball, and football. He was a former member of the Peotone Park Board and the Blue Demon’s Football Board.
He is survived by his wife, Erin (Schwiesow) Balmer who he married on January 14, 2000. He is also survived by his three children, Teagan, Benjamin, and Delaney Balmer; three sisters and one brother, Kathleen (Phil) Talent of Lockport, Carrie (Bob) Petrowski of Tinley Park, William J. Balmer of Chicago; and Joan (Dave) Ball of Carmel, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Sunday, September 18 from 2:00-7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Peotone on Monday, September 19 at 11:00 a.m., Father Dan Hoehn officiating. Burial will be at Peotone Cemetery. Memorials to the children’s college education fund would be appreciated.
