Joyce Lorraine Bakker

Joyce Lorraine Bakker age 89 of Peotone, IL passed peacefully on February 24, 2025 surrounded in love by her family.

Joyce was born in Chicago on January 13, 1936 and was raised with two siblings. She met the love of her life, Jerry, and soon started dating after high school. They were married October 12, 1957 and lived in Midlothian for several years before moving to Mokena and eventually Peotone. Joyce loved playing the organ, roller skating, and attending her kids sporting events. She was a gifted oil painter, having won several awards late in life, and was proud to study under international notable painter Sister Maria Stanisia. Her caring nature and fantastic cooking skills made her popular at the family business, Country Place in Peotone, IL. Her pride and joy were her family and numerous collie dogs. 

Joyce is survived by her children Cheryl, Lorie, Patrick (Colleen), six grandkids Amanda (Logan), Benjamin (Shelby), Andrew, Kelsey (Chris), Jordan (Becca), Renae (Dillon), and eight great grandkids Landon, Georgia Grace, Ava, Eli, Rayna, Elena, Lydia, Calvin, and many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years (Gerald), siblings Janet (Warren) Erickson and Gayle (Ed) Erickson, parents Howard and Ruth, and son-in-law Keith Zwolinski. 

The family is very grateful to her caregivers Cheryl and Lorie for their devotion along with the Peotone Paramedics and Fire Department. We would like to thank all of you for your love, support, prayers and acts of kindness. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to donor's choice. Jerry and Joyce passed away within a week of each other. A shared celebration of life event will be announced in the future
