Julie Kundrat

Julie A. Kundrat, age 94, formerly of the East Side Neighborhood of Chicago and Peotone, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Manteno Springs Assisted Living Center in Manteno, IL.

She was born March 12, 1920 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Stanley and Sophie (nee Manel) Komornik. She married the late John M. Kundrat Jr. on October 6, 1941 in Crown Point, IN. She was a homemaker and also worked for many years at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. She was a former longtime member of St. Francis DeSales Parish in Chicago and currently of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manteno, IL. She was an avid quilter and traveler.

She is survived by two daughters; Joanne Vlaisavljevich of Winterhaven, FL and Judith (Victor) Barnhill of Peotone, IL; two grandchildren, Victor (Tracy) Barnhill Jr. and Laura (Roberto) Cisneros; and six great-grandchildren, Jonathon, Erica, Nadia, Christian, Cameron, and Carley. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three sisters.

Visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Friday, December 5 from 4:00-8;00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Manteno, IL on Saturday, December 6 at 9:30 a.m., Father Albert Heidecke will officiate. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials to VITAS Hospice would be appreciated.
