June Elenor (Lauffer) Nagel of Fort Collins, CO died on November 19, 2014. She was born in Joliet, IL on April 3, 1923 to Emil and Verna (Marti) Groth who preceded her in death. She was confirmed on March 27, 1937 in St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Frankfort, IL. June married the late Wilbert Lauffer on April 15, 1945 at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Peotone, IL. They had two children, Ralph and Laurel. Laurel died in 1964 and Wilbert in 1983. June married the late Glenn Nagel in 1997 at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Peotone, IL. Glenn died in 2005.
June is survived by her son, Ralph (Elaine) Lauffer of Fort Collins, CO, two grandchildren, Darin (Stephanie) Lauffer of Fort Collins and Sharon (Jeremy) Marburger of Wellington, CO. Additionally three step-children, Sandra (Lane) Hafele, Roger (Susan) Nagel and Suzanne (Larry) Bennett , six step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren.
June was St. John’s United Church of Christ organist for many years and the second woman to serve on the St. John’s church council. Having lived in her early years in Frankfort and Mokena, IL and her last years in Fort Collins, CO; June lived most of her life in Peotone, IL. She enjoyed gardening and card clubs.
Visitation will be held at Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Sunday, December 21 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. John’s United Church of Christ, North Peotone, on Monday, December 22 at 11:00 a.m. Rev Bruce Salter will officiate. Burial will be at Skyline Cemetery, Monee, IL.
