Kathleen Thilmany

Kathleen M. Thilmany, age 86, of Manteno, passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021 surrounded by her loving family

She was born on March 5, 1935 in East Chicago, IN, the daughter of Bernard “Al” and Catherine (Gaughan) Adley.  She worked as a telephone operator for Illinois Bell before getting married and having children.  Later in her life she worked as a secretary for Brackman’s Garage in Chicago Heights. Kathleen enjoyed playing cards and bingo, watching all sports, and was of the Catholic faith.

Kathleen is survived by her children, Christine (Gene) Younker of Peotone, James (Marcie) Hamann of Peotone, Mary (Ken) Crowe of Manteno, and Nancy Herrin of Mississippi; her grandchildren, Dave (Susie) Younker, Dan Younker, Amy Younker, Ian Hamann, Lauren Hamann, Nicholas Crowe, Alyse Crowe, Casey Powell, and Ty Powell; and her great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jacob Younker.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John Thilmany; and her aunt, Marge Gaughan.

Visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 23 from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. with funeral services being held immediately after at 7:00 p.m., Deacon Jim Kelly officiating.  Private family interment will take place at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Glenwood.  In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to the wishes of the family.
