On Monday January 15th, 2024, Lane Mather, loving husband, proud and loving father, passed away peacefully but after putting up a strong fight.
Lane was born April 14th, 1955, to Lois and Delmer Mather. Lane has lived his entire life in Green Garden township. His life devotion was farming. At 5 years old he was driving tractors already (Falling asleep and driving into a ditch, past his bedtime!)
Growing up his other passion was drag racing his 69’ Roadrunner in his free time from school and farming.
Despite losing his leg in ’92 , which only slowed him down for one week, he was back running the farm and working a full-time job at the Village of Frankfort for nearly 30 years.
In 1995, he met his "fabulous" wife Lydia and discovered a love and happiness for traveling that they shared together.
Lane was the strongest, most selfless, and positive man you were proud to be able to call husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, or friend.
Lane leaves behind his loving wife of 29 years Lydia (Maria) Mather and his children and grandchildren he was so proud of.
Carolyn and Josh Lopez, Camden, James "Brother", Eliana.
Rob and Charlotte Mather, Logan, Carter.
Noreen and Jim Talley, Jimmy, Kaylee.
Sam and Daniella Mather.
Adam Mather.
Special thanks to Lane’s sisters Linda Heflin and Donna Schroeder for all their care, support, and love for him and all the family.
And true to Lanes words: "Oh well, what are you going to do."
A celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 25th, 2024, at the New Lenox VFW Post 9545, 323 Old Hickory Rd., New Lenox, IL from 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.
