Leonard H. Beck, Sr., age 90, of Monee, formerly of Burnham, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at his home. He was born on May 21, 1925 in Woodville, Michigan, the son of the late George and Emma (Chartrand) Beck. He married his wife, Pauline (Pfantz) Beck on November 13, 1948 in Marshalltown, Iowa. Leonard was a World War II United States Marine Veteran (1943-1946) serving in the Pacific. He was a machinist for Chicago Bridge and Iron retiring in 1986. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Beecher and the Peotone American Legion Post 392 in Peotone. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Pauline (Pfantz) Beck of Monee; three children, Linda (Allen) Blogg of Manteno, Mary (Gordon) Bayless of Wheeling, and Leonard (Lucy) Beck Jr.of Dyer, IN; four grandchildren, Kristin (fiancé James Hines) Beck, Alison Beck, Chad (Valerie) Blogg, and Breeann (Danny) Nestorovski; and four great-grandchildren, Robert, Delaney, Madigan, and Emerson. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Harry; and two sisters, Dorothy and Lorraine.
A memorial visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home, 112 W. Main St. Peotone, IL on Saturday, April 30 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a memorial service and military honors at 12:00 p.m., Rev. Ronald Rock officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials to the family’s wishes would be appreciated.
