Linda Louise Mathers-Epperson, age 89, of Monee; passed away on Monday, January 4, 2016 at Franciscan St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields.
She was born on October 17, 1926 in Huntsville, AL, the daughter of the late Norval and Annie (Maze) Sisk. She was a 64 year resident of Monee, a retired special education teacher at Homewood Flossmoor High School and an artist. She loved animals and especially enjoyed feeding them. She was also a licensed, registered clown going by the name, “Country Bumpkin”. She was a member of the Sherburnville Christian Church.
She is survived by two sons, Gary (Joan) Mathers of Peotone and Kevin (Virginia Fenske) Mathers of Richton Park; three grandchildren, Steve (Karen) Mathers, Jennifer Mathers, and Kyle Mathers; and a former daughter-in-law, Kimberly Martinez Mathers of New Lenox.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands; Laverne “Bud” Mathers (1980) and John D. Epperson (2001).
Visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Thursday, January 7 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Friday, January 8 at 11:00 a.m., Pastor Danny Dodge officiating. Interment will follow at Skyline Memorial Park, Monee. Memorials to the Morningstar Mission of Joliet or the Monee Fire Department would be appreciated.
