Loretta E. (Ruhbeck) Becker, age 82, of Peotone, passed away at her home on Saturday, March 2, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on March 13, 1936 in Green Garden Township, the daughter of the late Henry and Elsie (Breidert) Ruhbeck. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of nearly 54 years, George E. Becker, Jr. who she married on August 15, 1964 at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone. He passed away on March 15, 2018. She was the loving mother of 6 children, the late Raymond Becker, Loretta (Kenneth) Gallagher of Manhattan, Barbara (Ronald) Hnetkovsky of Channahon, Larry (Mattie) Becker of Manhattan, Bonnie (the late Robert) Struthers of Manhattan, and Daniel (Jodi) Becker of Peotone; adoring grandmother of 13, Joann Olsen, Matthew Becker, Brenda McClintock, Rhonda Quigley, Timothy Gallagher, Deanna Hnetkovsky, Donna Naleway, Jessica Becker, Cody Becker, Robert Struthers, Edwin Struthers, Evelyn Becker, the late Kevin Gallagher; great-grandmother of 19 with one on the way; and great-great grandmother of 6. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Sharon Kiehl of Florida; 2 sisters-in-law, Helen Becker and Marion Ruhbeck; a brother-in-law, Marvin Becker; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family is extremely grateful for Loretta’s caregiver, Vidas Ebas, who provided tremendous care and support over the past year. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George; 4 sisters, Bernice Ruhbeck, Edna Ruhbeck, Lucille (Walter) Wichtendahl, and Lorraine (Robert) Hasemann; and 5 brothers, Earl Ruhbeck, LeRoy Ruhbeck, Vernon (Elaine) Ruhbeck, and Glenn (Anne) Ruhbeck; and Norman Ruhbeck
She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone where she was past president of the Women’s Fellowship and taught Sunday School. She enjoyed embroidery, crossword puzzles, reading, painting, and crafts. She loved her family very much.
Visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 6 from 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone on Thursday, March 7 at 11:00 a.m., Pastor Terry Krouskoupf officiating. Burial will be at Peotone Cemetery. Memorials to Immanuel United Church of Christ, the Peotone Paramedics, or Joliet Area Community Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431 would be appreciated.
