Lyle Dean Wilke, 79, of Peotone, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the Cottages of New Lenox.
He was born Sept. 13, 1936, in Peotone, the only son of Chris and Amanda (Most) Wilke. Lyle married Janet Plagge on January 10, 1959, in Beecher.
Mr. Wilke was a retired farmer and milk truck driver for Dairy Farms of Monee. He was a member, past president, Sunday school superintendent, and deacon at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Beecher. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, bowling, and watching his beloved Chicago Cubs. He was a kind, loving, and gentle husband, grandpa, and “papa” - he will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Janet Wilke, of Peotone; four children, Daniel (Debbie) Wilke of Peotone, Lori (Rex) Klomparens of Peotone, Rhonda (Todd) Eviston of Peotone, and David (Sandra) Wilke of Raleigh, North Carolina; one sister, Audrey Soucie of Peotone: 10 grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas, Danielle, Matthew, Lindsay, Megan, Riley, Ryan, Evelyn and Jamie; and five great grandchildren, Liam, Naomi, Amelia, Sophie and David.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Bernice Dubbert of Peotone.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 23 at Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home in Peotone. An additional time for visitation will be from 9 a.m. on Thursday, March 24 until the 10 a.m. funeral service and burial at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Beecher. The Rev. Joel Dietrich will officiate.
