Marie Wille

Marie Wille, age 93, of Peotone, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Presence St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee. She was born on July 22, 1922, the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Koerner) Younker.

She is survived by her son, Bruce Wille of Peotone and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Wille (December 3, 1987) who she married on April 12, 1947 at the Evangelical and Reform Church in Peotone with Rev. E.H. Plassmann officiating. She was also preceded in death by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Erwin and Verna Wille, Clarence and Marie Sangmeister, Wilbur and Pearl Heisner, and Alvin and Dorothy Reils.

Marie was a homemaker. She was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone and belonged to the Women’s Fellowship of the church. In earlier years she was active in the Will County Home Bureau. She graduated from Peotone High School and Gallagher Business College in Kankakee. She worked at the Peotone Post Office for many years.

She loved her garden and flowers. She enjoyed reading, especially Amish books. She also looked forward to reading her Kankakee Daily Journal. She also enjoyed crafts, knitting, and crocheting. She listened to the Lutheran Hour on Sunday mornings and watched her church service on cable TV when she could not attend in person. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, attending the Ladies Bible Study Group, and also attending gatherings of family and friends.

Marie endured many hardships in her life losing her husband, John, to cancer. She also endured the loss of her farm place to a devastating tornado eight years ago. She survived colon cancer surgery years back. Her faith in God carried her through the hard times in life.

Visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home in Peotone on Sunday, February 21 from 2:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone on Monday, February 22 at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Dwight Gorbold officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10-11 a.m. prior to service. Burial will be at Peotone Cemetery. Memorials to the Immanuel United Church of Christ or the Peotone Paramedics would be appreciated.
