Marilyn Marie (Brtva) Chellios of Kimberling City, MO, formerly of Manhattan, IL and Diamond, IL,passed from this life Wednesday, October 30, 2013. She was born September 15, 1932 in Joliet, IL to Dennis and Viola (Schwiesow) Brtva and grew up in Peotone, IL. Marilyn married Euthemios S. Chellios on October 26, 1952.

She was a longtime resident of Manhattan before moving to Diamond in 2005, then to Kimberling City with her son and daughter-in-law in 2012. Marilyn was a member of St. Paul's UCC in Manhattan before transferring membership to Coal City UMC. She was amember of Manhattan Garden Club and a Scout Den Mother. Marilyn's most precious job was that of Wife, Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma. She loved to cook and bake, all of which will be greatly missed. Marilyn was a 38 year Cancer Survivor, Kicking Cancer in the butt 5 times! Her most recent success was in 2011. In the end she passed of heart complications, not cancer!

She is survived by four sons; Mitchell (Kendra) Chellios of Kimberling City, MO, Steven (Karen) Chellios of Manteno, IL, Robert (Julie) Chellios of Dawson, IL, Paul Chellios of South Wilmington, IL; a daughter, Susan Chellios of Saunemin, IL.; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her "girls", Melissa Hupe, Nancy Cross, and Leann Moore, their brother, Scott Bisping (aka her sister's children) and their families; Marilyn's brother, Franklin (Kay) Brtva of Diamond, a brother- in- law, William (Donna) Chellios of Manhattan; two sisters-in- law, Eleanore Brtva of Las Vegas, NV and Rosemary Chellios of Gardner, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Themo; a sister, Audrea Bisping; a brother, Ralph Brtva; an infant great-grandson , Connor Chellios; two brothers-in-law, Constantino Chellios and Leroy Bisping; and a sister-in -law , Sophia Chellios.

We will celebrate Marilyn's life with Visitation from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, November 9, at Coal City United Methodist Church, 6805 East McArdle Road, Coal City, IL. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 am, The Rev. Dr. Thomas R. Logsdon officiating. Lunch will be served after the service with internment following in Peotone Cemetery. Cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, Memorials to Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation or Coal City United Methodist ChurchMortgage Fund would be appreciated. Arrangements are under the direction of Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home, Peotone, IL. .
