Mary Lou Issert

Mary Lou (Krohn) Issert, of Peotone, passed away on Thursday November 30, 2023, at her home with her family after a 28 year battle with breast cancer.

She was born on April 15, 1945, in Kankakee, the daughter of Albert and Merna (Hamann) Krohn.  Mary grew up on the family farm in Grant Park.  She was a life-long devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church in Grant Park (Sollitt).  She married Joseph Montpetit in 1963 and moved into a home in Peotone, two doors down from her sister Doris.   She was a hard worker throughout her life.   She was employed by Bennett Industries, now Cleveland Steel Container, in Peotone for 45 years.  She was dedicated, extremely competent, and loved her job.  In 1988 she married Anthony “Tony” Issert, a Peotone farmer, and started a new chapter of farming, family, and travel when possible.  They supported St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Peotone.  Tony passed away on May 1, 2016.   She was involved in the American Legion Post 392 and her Peotone community.  She was the first person at the door with a meal when a friend was in need.  Her greatest joy was her family.  Being the best grandmother ever was her hobby, along with gardening, caring for her home, spending time with her sister Doris, and traveling with her family.

Mary is survived by her daughter Michelle Montpetit Lemp and son-in-law Christopher Lemp of St. Charles; two grandchildren, Madeline and Brennan Lemp; three step-daughters Cindy (Mark) Stauffenberg of Manteno, Michelle (Bobby) Borden of Peotone, Lisa (John) Dralle of Bourbonnais; eight step-grandchildren, Burgandy (Ned) Robertson, Matthew (Lauren) Stauffenberg, Cortney (Dan) Kosmos, Krissi (Tim) Lengel, Carlo Dralle, Nicolette Dralle, Amanda (Jimmy) Skutt, and Jade (Preston) Eilders, great-grandchildren; several nieces; and a dear friend with whom she shared her later life James Clausing.

She is preceded in death by her beloved sister and brother-in-law, Doris (Krohn) Kuhn and Robert Kuhn, her beloved husband Anthony Issert, and her parents Albert and Merna.

Visitation will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 11456 N 11000 E. Rd., Grant Park, IL, 60940, on Sunday, December 10, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with funeral services being held at 2:30 p.m., Pastor Cory Estby officiating.  Light refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall following the funeral service.  Memorials may be directed in her name to Zion Lutheran Church or Susan G.
