Mary Anne Nardi, age 79, of Peotone, formerly of Chicago, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2016. She was born on August 9, 1937 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Joseph and Concetta Nardi. She was a graduate of DePaul University and a sorority sister of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a guidance counselor at Wells Community High School in Chicago for 35 years. She was a member of St. Therese Chinese Catholic Church in Chicago and attended St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Peotone. She loved to travel, was an avid reader, and especially enjoyed the arts.
She is survived by her brother, John (Dorothy) Nardi of Homer Glen; her brother-in-law, Jerome Wicker of Peotone; niece and nephews, Joseph Nardi of Homer Glen, Charles (Natalie) Wicker of Glencoe, John Nardi Jr. of Homer Glen, Lisa Nardi (Michael) Byrne of Lockport, Joseph (Kelly) Wicker of Manteno, and Max Wicker of Peotone; and great-nieces and nephew, Addison Wicker, Brooklynn Byrne, and Jerome Wicker. She was preceded in death by her sister, Rosemary J. Wicker (1998).
Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 30 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home, 112 W. Main St. Peotone, IL 60468. Funeral Mass on Thursday, December 1, 10:30 a.m., at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 511 N. Conrad St., Peotone, IL 60468, Father Roger Kutzner officiating. Burial will be at Peotone Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Adult Down Syndrome Center at Lutheran General Hospital would be appreciated.
