Michael Edward Tierney

 Michael Edward Tierney, age 90, of Peotone, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 25, 1934, in Chicago, IL, the son of Raymond and Catherine (Mason) Tierney.

 He is survived by his beautiful wife of 64 years, Lucille (Lerner) Tierney; his 6 wonderful children, James (Betty Lou) Tierney, Paul (Dawn Marie) Tierney, Jean Tierney, Sharon (Ryan) Tierney, Lawrence (Judy) Tierney, and Michael (Megan) Tierney; and his grandchildren, Emily Tierney, Sarah Tierney, Olive Tierney, Kobe Suprenant, Dani Green, Seth Green, and Dustin Green. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Rita (Tierney) Goergen.

 Mike was a graduate of De La Salle High School. He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of the Peotone American Legion Post 392. His passion was flying, which he learned to do during his time in the Army. He kept flying most of his life while also owning an airplane charter service. Mike worked in the railroad industry for 42 years. He was fortunate to be retired for the past 28 years. In his retirement he enjoyed fishing, golfing, and especially spending time with his family.

 A visitation will be held at Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., Deacon Milt Leppert officiating. Burial and military honors will take place following the funeral service at Peotone Cemetery. Due to the ongoing road construction, Main Street will be closed to traffic. The sidewalks in front of the funeral home will be open and access may be made through the front door. Additional parking will be available in the parking lot of Christ Community Church, 103 W. Corning Ave., Peotone, IL. Entrance then can be made through the back door of the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the wishes of the family.
