Patricia J. Dykstra

     Patricia J. Dykstra, age 90, of Peotone, formerly of Harvey, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family.

     She was born on February 17, 1933, in Harvey, IL, the daughter of the late John and Maude (Samuels) Brower.  She married Frank Paul Dykstra, Sr., on January 20, 1951, in Crown Point, IN.  Frank preceded her in death on August 16, 2012.  She was a member of the Harvey Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary and bowled in leagues at Peotone Bowling Center.  She played semi-professional softball and was an accomplished artist.  She was the founding member of the Harvey Children’s Club where she introduced all the neighborhood children to various forms of arts and crafts.  She enjoyed crocheting and embroidery and made baby blankets for everyone in her family.   She shared her love of music and dancing with all her family and friends.

     Patricia is survived by her four children; Joy Moore, Jan Alane (Patrick) Dykstra Robinson, Frank Paul Dykstra, Jr., and June (the late Dan) Kincses; her grandchildren, Amanda (Rob) Mizaur, Apryl (Tatsu Tanikawa) Spinazzola, Mikayla Moore, Nicholas Moore, Rachael Robinson, Stephanie G. Robinson Gargiulo, Ashley (Bill) Sharp, Daniel (Katie) Kincses, Samuel Kincses, and Amber Kincses; her great-grandchildren, Mason, Vega, Aria, Robert, Ethan, Alana, McKinley, and a soon to be born in April, 2024; two sisters, Jean (the late Joe) Lovato and Dawn (the late Jack) O’Leary; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.

     Cremation rites have been accorded and all services will be private.  Memorials in her name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Arbor Day Foundation.
