Richard Daniel O’Neill, age 86, of Peotone, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Presence Heritage Village Nursing Home in Kankakee.
He was born on June 29, 1932 in Chicago, the son of the late John and Olive (Kelly) O’Neill. He was a retired Captain with the Chicago Police Department and a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Peotone and volunteered at the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie Nature Preserve for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially walking and riding his bicycle around Peotone.
Richard is survived by his four children; Michaelle O’Neill Shadburne, Rochelle L. O’Neill, Randi D. O’Neill, and Richard A. O’Neill. He is also survived by Randi L. Kremian, the mother of Rochelle, Randi, and Richard. He was preceded in death by a brother, John “Jack” O’Neill.
Chapel committal services will be held at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, 2755 W. 111th St., Chicago on Friday, Dec. 14 at 12:00 p.m.
