Robert A. Brown, age 91, of Park Forest, IL, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014. He was born July 15, 1923 in Gloucester, MA, the son of the late John E. and Isabelle (Riggs) Brown.
He married the late Barbara (Morgan) Brown on August 1, 1948 in Gloucester, MA. He was a US Army World War II Veteran serving in the 95th Infantry Division, also known as the Iron Men of Metz, in recognition of their liberation of the town of Metz, France during World War II. He was a retired chemical engineer, a member of the Chicago Heights American Legion, and a member of the Calvary United Protestant Church in Park Forest for over 50 years.
He is survived by a son, Robert A. (Jill) Brown of Austin, TX; two daughters, Debi Paque of Sun City, AZ and Marcia (Al) Murray of Peotone, IL; four grandchildren, Stephanie, Lorelei, Adam, and Christopher; four great-grandchildren, Isabella, Henry, Mia, and Bryson; and a sister, Carol (Vinnie) Yannone of Old Saybrook, CT. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and two brothers, Jack and Norman Brown.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 1:00 p.m., at the Calvary United Protestant,425 N. Orchard Dr., Park Forest, IL, Pastor Caroline Underwood officiating. Memorials to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
