Robert “Bob” Schultz, age 81, of Monee, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2022 at Franciscan Health in Olympia Fields.
He was born on October 26, 1940 in Harvey, IL, the son of Lawrence and Edna (Henke) Schultz. Bob grew up in Homewood, IL along with his younger siblings, Dorothy and Donnie. He attended Bremen High School. He married Judy Prairie and they moved to Green Garden in 1973. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Monee, IL.
Bob spent the majority of his life working in the Heating and Cooling industry, most of those years being the sole owner and employee of his own business. Bob loved fishing with his friends. Never did he miss his yearly trip to Kentucky Lake, where few fish were caught, but a good time was always had! Amongst his other favorite things, was his morning coffee at his favorite coffee shop with his friends, or dropping in at the end of a hot day to enjoy a cold beer with them. At home, Bob enjoyed building and crafting woodwork decorations and furniture.
Bob stayed active on his family’s small horse farm. Always offering a helping hand with any chore and faithfully baling and bringing in the hay every year. Spending time with his family is what Bob loved the most. From sitting on his daughter’s front porch with her, a cup of coffee and apple fritter, unselfishly sharing it with his fan club of dogs. Bike riding, fishing in the creek and moonshine sipping with his granddaughter’s, Skyler and Hallie. Time with Mike, more of a son than “in-law”, was spent talking about business, watching a race together, or digging into a dirty greasy project. Time together is what mattered to Bob.
Bob will be missed by so many, but most of all, his family, his sweet lab Zoey, and by his two best friends Ron and Buddy who were by their friend’s side until the very end.
He is survived by daughter and son-in-law Teri and Mike Hall, granddaughters Skyler and Hallie; his loving sister Dorothy Sulzberger of Tinley Park, and wonderful brother Donnie and his wife Leslie of Kalamazoo. He is preceded in death by his wife Judy, and his parents. Cremation rites have been accorded and all services will be private.
