Roger Lee Anderson, age 65, of Crete, passed away at his home on Thursday, August 19, 2021.
He was born on April 17, 1956 in Chicago Heights. Roger married Linda Gaul on November 28, 1987 in Markham, IL. He was a truck driver and auto mechanic retiring from Terra Tech in Crete after 27 years. Roger loved teaching his boys and grandsons how to work on cars and fix things in general. An important lesson he taught them was how to hold a flashlight correctly and was often known to ask them “Can you see, because I can’t”. He enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, and participating in the demolition derby at the Will County Fair.
Roger is survived by his father and step-mother, Oscar “Ray” ( Marlene) Anderson; his wife, Linda L. Anderson of Crete; his children, Kelly (Tom) Lafferty of Monee, Jason (Heather) Anderson of Lowell, IN, and Chad Anderson of Crete; his grandchildren, Jack and Joshua Lafferty; Krista, Cheyenne, Leeann, and Jason Jr. Anderson; Isaac Corry; and Lily Anderson; his brother, Robert (Anne) Anderson of Lansing; his sister, Gerri (Jeff) Kling of Milwaukee, WI; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tom and Linda Gaul of Schaumburg; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Beverly and David Kowalski of Cedar Lake, IN; his brother-in-law, Raymond Gaul of Hobart, IN; many bonus children and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lou Ann (Christensen) Anderson.
Visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Thursday, August 26 from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. with funeral services being held at 8:00 p.m. Rev. Terry Krouskoupf officiating. Military honors and committal service will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be directed to the wishes of the family.
