Shirley Albers

Shirley A. Albers, age 85, of Manteno, formerly of Peotone, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at River North of Bradley Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on December 1, 1930 in Crete, IL, the daughter of the late Albert and Ella (Rincker) Batterman. Shirley married the late Delbert A. Albers on February 27, 1954 in Dyer, IN. He died on February 1, 1998. She worked in the food service industry for many years; her last job being with the Peotone School District. She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone. She was an avid baker, loved to garden, and especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s events.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam Love, of Manteno; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Albers of Peotone; two grandchildren, Ben (Brittney) Love of Peotone and Jessica (Damien Irby) Love of Bradley; a sister-in-law, Rose Ann Batterman of Steger; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; her son, Keith Douglas Albers (March 4, 2009); 4 brothers, Elroy, Leonard, Rufus, and Charles Batterman; and a sister, Ruth Dohrman.

Visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Saturday, October 29 from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Saturday, October 29 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Skyline Memorial Park in Monee. Memorials to the Family’s Wishes would be appreciated.
