Susan Heintz

March 27, 1941 — September 12, 2018

Susan June (Campbell) Heintz, age 77, of Peotone, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Riverside Miller Health Care and Rehabilitation in Kankakee.

She was born on March 27, 1941 in East Orange, NJ, the daughter of the late E. Stuart and Janice (Howlett) Campbell.  She was a graduate of Central Bucks High School in Doylestown, PA and attended Radford University in Radford, VA where she was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority.  She married William Otto Heintz on June 23, 1962 in Doylestown, PA.  Susan was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ and the Women’s Fellowship in Peotone.  She was a member of the Crete and Peotone Women’s Clubs and was a longtime volunteer at St. James Manor in Crete.  She enjoyed gardening and photography.

She is survived by her husband, William Otto Heintz; her children, Belinda Heintz Ruckman and her husband; John, William Stuart Heintz, Jonathan Bruce Heintz, and Jane Karrels Heintz, all of Peotone; 9 grandchildren, Hannah Ruckman (Aaron) Ullrich, Rebecca Heintz (Ivan) DelReal, John W. Ruckman, Cecily Karrels, Sarah Heintz, Rachel Heintz, Isabella Heintz, Lily Ruckman, Kristen Heintz; 1 great-grandchild, Wade Ullrich; a brother, Bruce Campbell of Killingworth, CT; and close friend and caregiver, Mitzi Johnson.

Visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Sunday, September 16 from 2:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.  Graveside funeral services will be held at Peotone Cemetery, 6825 W. Corning Rd., Peotone, IL on Monday, September 17 at 11:00 a.m., Pastor Zach Grell and Nancy Wheeler officiating.  Memorials to Helping Hands Food Pantry or the Humane Society would be appreciated.
