Sylvia Schmitz, 91 of Peotone passed away Monday September 26, 2016 at St. Mary Hospital in Kankakee, IL. Sylvia was born on October 10, 1924 in Grant Park, IL the daughter of Carl and Elsie Schroeder. She is survived by her sister Carol (Robert) Hobbs and a niece Michelle (Daniel) Rantanen and nephews Michael (Stacie) Hobbs and David Hobbs. Also surviving are many great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband George Schmitz, her parents and sisters Iola Hobbs and Irene Bydalek. Her step mother Mildred Schroeder and brother in law Willard Bydalek also precede her. Sylvia especially enjoyed going dancing with her husband. Visitation will be held Thursday September 29, 2016 from 10-11 a.m. at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone. Funeral services will also be conducted Thursday September 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. also at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone. Burial will be at Peotone cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Immanuel United Church of Christ.
