William "Dub" Austell

A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Saturday, November 27, 2021 from 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. with a memorial service being held at 4:00 p.m., Rev. Jack McCormick officiating.  The family hopes that everyone will be able to come together to share the hugs and celebrate his life and the endless stories and memories that we all have of the amazing man that we have all lovingly called “Dub”.
William “Dub” C. Austell Jr, 79, of Peotone, IL died peacefully on December 1, 2020.  He was born in Fransisco, Alabama on June 4, 1941 to Ruby and “Jack” Austell.

Dub is survived by his children Bob (Bonnie) Austell, Bill (Cindy) Austell and Jacque (Eric) Bottoms, grandchildren Alicia, Becky, Zack, Michele, Michael, Mark, Matthew, Mackenzie, Max, Molly, Sean and Tess and 15 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his father Jack Austell, mother Ruby Bular, Step-Father Albert Bular, Sister Oneida Compton and her husband Buck Compton.

Dub loved his family and friends (oh so many of them), drinking Pepsi, sausage biscuits, Southern Gospel music, watching sports, working on cars, driving race cars, helping other young men find their love for the automobile, going the extra mile for his customers, a really great joke, playing cards, clean tools and garage and cutting grass…of course not necessarily in that order. Austell Auto was his career, his livelihood, passion and connection to so so many of his lifelong customers and friends. I don’t think there is a single one of us that won’t think of Dub when we crack open a nice cold Pepsi.
